About Jo Kathryn Nelson
Social worker, Mother, Child Life Specialist
Founder of The Wild Bloom Collective, est 2025
I believe that every child deserves to feel understood and supported for who they are, and proud of who they are becoming.
Welcome, I’m Jo
I am a compassionate, energetic, creative, holistic, and driven social worker with over 12 years of experience supporting children and families, including 10 years post-BSW. I have gained hands-on experience in a variety of environments, providing support to children and families who struggle with serious emotional and mental health diagnoses. I am adept at fostering and sustaining productive, positive relationships with clients, community members, and advocating for those I work with.
I have a strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, special education, and emotional regulation skills. I have a long history of working with families in complex relationships and situations. I’m also a neurodivergent parent myself, which means I understand firsthand how important emotional safety, sensory support, and gentle guidance are for kids.
I believe that it is essential to foster an innate belief in the power of self, positive relationships, community, and healing through nature and creative expression.
My approach is calm, creative, and child-led. Wild Bloom was created to offer the kind of support I wish every family had — affirming, accessible, and rooted in compassion.
